Design Your Journey

Every company's reasons for engaging in a Leadership Journey vary. Therefore, while we have a whole lot of ideas to help get you started, each Journey will be tailored to the organisation and the groups' specific needs. 

An ancient Chinese proverb says ‘if you want to know what water is, don’t ask a fish’. A fish cannot explain the medium in which it lives as it has no experience other than water. By placing participants in a vastly contrasting culture, the Leadership Journey facilitates learning about dominant worldviews and behavioural paradigms to generate a deeper understanding of what drives culture. A key outcome is a heightened awareness of personal worldview and how culture forms.

Ultimately Leadership Journey is designed to facilitate a genuine relationship between a corporation and a grass roots developing community. The rich learning platform of the ‘Journey’ will enable participants to make a genuine contribution to a project while having a transforming experience off the beaten tourist trail. Our experienced facilitators will assist meaningful reflection as participants' cultural norms are challenged and each participant's interpersonal capacity and resilience is stretched. Leadership competencies are identified and are put into practice in the context of assisting a community in need. 

Leadership has an ethical/ moral component which requires clarification through the intentional unpacking of personal and corporate values. The ethical question is; 'What is the right thing to do?' An important aspect of the Leadership Journey is to unpack authentic leadership that models agreed values and provides direction for true success. This may, however, necessitate redefining our understanding of 'true success'.
